Dotty Background Tutorial

Hello All. Hope you are enjoying the weekend. We are are as we have some lovely weather here in the UK at the moment.

Thanks to the wonderful sunshine I haven’t been in the craft room for a couple of days so I have something a little different to show you today. I love sitting outside with the children colouring in and watching them play so I have a lot of images coloured ready for making into cards and I thought I would share how I do a dotty sky background.

Here is a finished image (Sweetest Surprises) with this technique, I think the dotty background gives a whimsical look:

I was so engrossed in my colouring I forget to take pictures of each step on the above image. So what better excuse than to colour up another cutie, the following uses Little Friends.

1. I use Copics and I start with my darkest marker B24 I apply random dots all around the outline of the image. I place the dots closer together next to the image and space them apart as they get further from the image. I also press a little harder closer to the image to create slightly larger dots.
2. I repeat with my next darkest marker B23 this time taking the dot’s further into the white area. And then repeat again with B91 and B00.
3. I decide on where my sunshine will be coming from (on this image upper left) and using the same process as above have placed yellow dots using Y02 and Y00.
4. Last thing on the sky is to take your lightest blue marker B0000 and lightly stroke upwards to soften the dots. Repeat with your lightest yellow Y0000 stroking the colour downwards from the top right corner.

I have also added some grass and flowers but this post is already a little long so will show you that another time!

You’ll probably notice I haven’t coloured the main image yet. I like to leave it until after I have picked DP and then I know what colours will look best.

A Tasty Read

I have been taking colouring classes at Kit & Clowder and practicing like crazy to improve my colouring. The above coloured background was taught using pencils but I have used my markers to create the same sunset scene. And I thought it suited this image perfectly.

Pati’s Kisses

Depending on my mood sometimes I like to make make cards, however other times I just love to sit and colour and can happily lose several hours colouring in! Times like that call for Clean and Simple cards as I can use all my effort for the colouring and there’s nothing to distract from the beautiful image.

Morning EB fans!

It's Lisa and today I thought I would share something other than a card. It’s a page from my colouring journal. It’s a sort of record of my colouring but also something to look back at and inspire me when Mr Mojo goes on vacation!!

I switched marker brands a few months ago and am slowly getting to know what colour combinations I like and trying out a lot of new ones, so popping them on the reverse of each page gives me a good visual reference to remind me in the future.

Little Friends

Morning EB fans!

It's Lisa and I’m thrilled to be back here as a Guest Digi Bell once again! Time sure passes quickly…… I was pregnant with my youngest last time I was here and now she is two years old!!  A big thank you to all the girls for having me back to play along. I love Elisabeth’s designs and I’m so eager to see what new releases there will be during my term.

Creative Genius Michelle

Toot Toot

Hello EB fans, it's Lisa here again with another GDT post.

I am surprised I made this post at all!! My littlest baby (8 months) has a cold and is teething so lot's of cuddles have been the order of the day and typing up a post one handed isn't so easy ;-). To top it all off she has just learnt to pull herself up to standing against the sofa but is very wobbly when she gets there so needs almost constant attention at the moment.

I Love You this Much
